APRS Setup for Luxembourg
Recommended APRS Parameters for Luxembourg (since August 2008)
Unproto address for fix stations
For example at home or using UI-View.
- For 1 Hop use: WIDE2-1 (please don’t use WIDE1-1 which is for Mobile stations only)
- for 2 Hops use: WIDE2-2
- for 3 Hops use: WIDE3-3
In total never more than 3 hops!
Unproto address for mobile stations
- For 1 Hop use: WIDE1-1 (the RELAY parameter has been changed to WIDE1-1)
- for 2 Hops use: WIDE1-1, WIDE2-1
- for 3 Hops use: WIDE1-1, WIDE2-2
In total never more than 3 hops!
Unproto address for setting objects
For example to broadcast repeaters or shacks.
Objects should always be kept local. So please don’t use use any hops if you are in reach of a gateway. This decision has also been made because of the new QSY Function of the TM-D710 , TH-D72 and other rigs.
In order to set the info locally, see the application of LUX in the following 2 examples of a frame:

In order to guarantee the correct functioning of the APRS concept, the following requirements should be followed:
- Local broadcasting: The data is only to be broadcasted locally. Therefore you only specify the destination in the path (eg « APRS »). A longer path such as APRS, WIDE1-1 can for example lead to the reception of a voice-relay object in an area where the mobile HAM can’t receive this relay yet. As a result the overall concept would be compromised.
- Beacon interval:
The interval of the transmission should be set to 10 minutes.

Beacons will only be repeated in Luxembourg.
TRACEn-N to be adjusted to LUXn-N
- For 1 Hop use: LUX1-1
- for 2 Hops use: LUX2-2
- for 3 Hops use: LUX3-3
In total never more than 3 hops!
LUXn-n is preferred as traffic remains local and will nevertheless be routed through the internet.
